Exhibition - More is a Bore

Ship of Fools | More is a Bore

Circles become birds or wheels, brackets define a moustache, simple objects twist before your eyes to something funny or disturbing. Human interactions and emotions as well as social and political themes are communicated in simple shapes and minimalist ways. In many ways the work shown in this exhibition has a long tradition in classic poster art, but it is great to see how young illustrators and designers renew the genre, get back to the roots of graphic design and mix it with today's (pop)cultural themes. Who knew that less could be so entertaining? Minimalism rocks!

We are very happy to show the work of (inter)national minimalists: 75B (NL), Anthony Burrill (UK), Buro Destruct (CH), Christopher David Ryan (US), Gorilla (NL), Karl Maier (AUS), Leandro Castelao (AR), Noma Bar (UK/IL), Robert Samuel Hanson (UK/D) and Ryan Dixon (UK).

In addition to the opening there will be also two lectures from Noma Bar and Leandro Castelao, who will talk about their work, their approach and their inspiration. The lectures will start at 19:30 at Ship of Fools Gallery. So don't miss it!

Noma Bar (UK) illustrates with an intelligence and a beautifully crafted style he has made his own. Since 2001 Noma has been based in Longon working with a huge array of clients that include Vodafone, BBC, Coca-Cola, Wallpaper*, Economist, New York Times, The Guardian and many more.

Leandro Castelao (AR) works and lives in the southern suburbs of Buenos Aires, Argentina. His work constantly connects real objects and situations with some personal diagrammatic filter based on his graphic design background.
